The Competency of Operators of Pleasure Craft Regulations require operators of pleasure craft fitted with a motor and used for recreational purposes to have proof of competency on board at all times. These regulations came into effect April 1, 1999. Certificates for boating safety course completed before April 1, 1999 will be recognized. An operator as of September 15, 1999, who was born after April 1, 1983, is required to have a Pleasure Craft Operator Card. All operators of powered watercrafts under 4 meters in length, including personal watercraft, by September 15, 2002, are required to show proof of competency. All operators of powered watercraft by September 15, 2009, are required to show proof of competency. Visit the Canadian Coast Guard for additional information. Get your boating license online!. The online exam is fully accredited by the Canadian Coast Guard and is a convenient way to get certified. Your Pleasure Craft Operator Card will be issued after successful completion of the online boater exam.
